The human-capital -wasting trap is well known with over half of our children not ready to learn by the time they start school. Indeed, they start at a disadvantage, and it has been noted that they fall further and further behind with more than 40% of learners dropping out of school before reaching Grade 12. Studies have shown that early childhood education results in better concentration, communication, listening and the ability to follow instructions whilst having the desire to finish tasks. There is a new strategy however that projects the need for 115, 000 new early learning venues for 2.9 million young children but the model must change to community-based centres and homes of day mothers.
And this is where the Delft ECD Project fomes into focus. It is a an ECD project birthed in an area of dire need for stability and social cohesion. It is based in Delft, the murder capital of SA with spiralling unemployment and poverty.
This ECD project however uplifts the women who run the centres in such a way that their lives are transformed, and they can empower and educate the little ones in their care in a powerful way. With 34 schools operating and some 1 400 children being cared for, it is obvious that the Delft ECD Project is on to a winning formula! Indeed, their work epitomizes upliftment, sustainability whilst endorsing a high standard of education.
The latter is orientated around AmazingBrainz’s incredible curriculum. Once trained, teachers are equipped with quality qualifications which mean that they can run their ECDs as well functioning schools with positive ripple effects being felt in the community around them, making these communities more resilient in the process.
Early childhood education remains one of the best investments we can make in the long-term successes of our students and long-term economic strength of communities. Collectively this project of passion and empowerment is giving Delft, a forgotten community bereft of hope, the chance to see positive and tangible changes by ushering in a brand-new world of opportunities and a better tomorrow. And, if you need more reasons – see if the following tick your boxes to give:
Educating young children for a better future //Empowering teacher and creche workers, giving them entrepreneurial skills and qualifications// Impacting the whole community making it more resilient.
If one adds up all the beneficiaries of this crucial project, it comes to thousands of reasons to give and invest in this journey of Hope, today! Your contribution will change lives in a tangible way and to this end, the Delft ECD projects appeals to you to give generously to enable this vital work to carry on.
